Oscar Irvin is a retires Sergeant of the Memphis Police Department. In July 2011 he became an NRA certified law enforcement firearms instructor, and since October 2011 has also been certified to teach the Mississippi Enhanced Firearms Permit. To date he has trained more than 4500 applicants. He is available to develop special group training programs to meet the needs of a business or organization. Among past groups have been associates of Bob Leigh Realty Company; family and employees of Cedar Hill Farm; members of the Northwest Mississippi Realtors Association and the Southaven Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to being a teacher of firearms training and safety he also provides background information as to what is, and is not, permitted under the new Mississippi Enhanced Firearms Permit.
Oscar is an avowed advocate of gun safety and personal protection and is deeply committed to civic involvement. He is available to make presentations before area civic and social organizations, senior citizen and youth groups. He has been a guest speaker at the: Hernando Chamber of Commerce; Hernando Rotary Club; Southaven Chamber of Commerce, Southaven Rotary Club; Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce, and Olive Branch Rotary Club. Confidence Through Training also was featured in a Memphis Commercial Appeal article explaining the significance of the new Mississippi Enhanced Firearms Permit.
